Day 10: Grants Pass to Cave Junction (the long way)

Here's the day late update for yesterday complete with pictures.

Our day consisted of a 300 mile circuit to make the 30 mile trip from Grants Pass to Cave Junction. The day started with what is starting to appear normal ... cloud/fog midmorning when we get on the road.

Our first stop was at the Rogue River Gorge. The sign says it flows enough water to fill an olympic size pool every second. While we don't know if we were seeing those kinds of flows it was still interesting to see a river that was cut through volcanic rock.

We continued up hwy 62 to Crater Lake. Winter road closures limited access to one point but we really enjoyed the visual of a lake in a volcano.

It's so off season that we have to resort to taking our own pictures of us!

The drive to Cave Junction included a number of wonderful roads. This picture is looking back on SR 66 from one of the vistas.

We also enjoyed old highway 99, the Klamath River Highway (#96) and hwy 48 from Happy Camp to Cave Junction. Lighting conditions prevented pictures but I do hope to put highlight video together when we get home.

The hotel and restaurant in Cave Junction were nothing to write home about.
