Day 24: Pebble Beach 17 Mile Drive

Today's primary activity was the Pebble Beach and Del Monte Forest 17-Mile Drive. A $9.50 entry fee allows one into a pretty ritzy area full of forest, high-end residences, golf courses and miles of Pacific coastline.

We took a few pictures of the grounds at our hotel before we left in the morning. It's obvious that someone here is really into maintaining beautiful grounds.

We again had wonderful weather as we started our drive.

The drive to Pebble Beach took us through Cannery Row where Marion just "happened" to snap a picture of the restaurant we went back to later in the day for dinner ....

... and along the coast in Pacific Grove.

Marion wanted to get a picture of a wave ..... ;o)

Now we're on the 17 mile drive. Golf courses all over the place ....

.... unannounced air shows ....

.... challenging "T's" .....

.... noisy rocks .....

... on second look it turned out the noise was the inhabitants ....

One of the medium size houses.

Fascinating waves that seemed to be criss-crossing.

One of the bigger houses. I glanced through some real estate listings on a news stand. Lots of places in the mid single digit millions ... one I noticed was listed for north of $17 million.

The Lone Cypress .... "one of California's most endearing landmarks". Who knew?

The golfers should recognize this.

Back at Cannery Row we had a harbor seal entertaining us just below our patio table. We also had an otter swimming around out of good camera range.

That was our day. Tomorrow it's off the the Hearst Castle and then on to L.A.
